There’s a quiet kind of magic that happens when you step outside and soak in the world around you. Whether it is the soft whispers of a wave as it curls and crashes, or the golden glow of early morning light over the horizon, Nature’s splendor has a way to draw us in and provide this internal reset. A moment of pause is all it takes to bask in Nature’s generous and awe-inspiring simplicity.
Recently, on a crisp and sunny Saturday morning, the start of a sailing race provided an unforgettable reminder of such magic. As boats were circling, and crews were getting ready for the race, all eyes turned to the same spot between boats, where the spray of a blowhole had just sent droplets of water fly into the rays of sunlight. People shouted “Whale!” and pointed at the last known location of the whale, excitedly anticipating the surfacing of the whale out of sheer curiosity, awe and safety, to make sure to avoid a collision. A few seconds passed before the whale, covered in barnacles surfaced again, to show its dark sleek body, before diving again. The whale kept circling, equally playful and powerful, in between the sailboats gearing up for full speed. It felt like a gift and a powerful reminder that no matter how much we plan and strive to control outcomes while out on the water, nature is the true captain out there.

That morning on the bay, the whale reminded us why we care so deeply, design thoughtfully, and keep going every day to grow our Albatross community.
